The role of museums as places for conservation of works of art has given way to the concept of museums as cultural service to the community, as open spaces for different artistic disciplines where experiences are shared. We cannot think of a museum in isolation from the context that surrounds it.
How do we nowadays integrate this relationship between museums and their contexts? How can museums collaborate to develop projects for the community? Are different disciplines suitable for museum programming?
In order to answer these questions the 16th DEAC Museum Conference in Valencia is conceived as a meeting point for the different Departments of Education and Cultural Action to discuss new tendencies within museums.
Under the title MUSEOS, ESPACIOS PARA COMPARTIR (MUSEUMS, SPACES TO SHARE), this new edition of the Conference is organized around three themes on which the discussions, lectures and presentations will be held:
The Conference is thought for people who work in museums, for culture companies and for anyone who is interested in this area. The Conference will be held in the IVAM’s Auditorium on 27th, 28th and 29th May 2010.
On this website you can check the programme, register on the Conference and obtain information about how to present a paper in the Conference.
